| One perspective of the world today by nhdiana301 at 5/31/2008 9:37:13 AM
What is this world coming to? Do you ever stop to analyze our society, our politics, our own personal struggles? I do, everytime I hear of the negativity in the news, it makes me stop and think of why is this happening? What makes the majority of crime cyclical (always happening in recurring cycles)?
It's no wonder many of us cannot get ahead and that the middle class are slipping into the low-income status. We have politicians that have made so much money in their lives that they have forgotten where they came from. Not everyone was born with a silver spoon in their mouths. Nowadays, there are more and more people living paycheck to paycheck, week to week, that it's almost sickening! And what are our politicians doing about it? Well for one thing, they're making life easier on themselves in the long run and forgetting about the constituents who elected them to sit in those leather, high-back chairs and make decisions that either help us or hurt us. Perhaps my intention was to elect someone who had the people in mind and that we could take comfort in the fact that they are supposed to be representing us! We, the people, elected them to help us, right? So when they hurt us, who is holding them accountable? Not many! Not enough people to make any kind of difference. And the few that try to hold them accountable are considered disgruntled constituents. Here in New Hampshire, we have a democratic politician who deceives the public in making us believe that when he was involved in a car accident, he fell subject to amnesia and wandered around the woods until he was found. I'm sorry, but I can't help but wonder where he was that when the first reports came out, it was said that he cancelled all his late afternoon and evening meetings but no one could find him anywhere. And no one could reach him by cell phone? Now doesn't that sound strange?
How many times have you heard the phrase, "We need to craft language..."? What?! Why would anyone need to 'craft' language for a bill, a contract article, a negotiation, or for any reason? If you want something, just put it out there! Look at it this way, if you have to 'craft' language, all you're doing is deceiving those that you are preparing this language for in an effort to get what you want while making the 'other side' believe that this is a good thing. It's a fact that when preparing written materials to publicly distribute, you have to keep the language at a 9th grade reading level. So, it's clear to see that 'crafting' language is a way to deceive others into giving you something that is good for a selected few or group. With this, is it any wonder the 'other side' does not abide by the agreed upon language because the meaning is so cleverly crafted that it is misconstrued? For God's sake, whatever happened to good old-fashioned truth and integrity? Obviously, it went out the window when deceit got so popular!
I write this to begin giving you all 'food for thought' and am hoping to begin a great number of people thinking and desiring honesty and integrity. We also need to hold our politicians accountable when they make decisions that have no benefit to us, but rather, in fact, carry more benefit to them. If they cannot be OUR voice, then we have to be our own voice!
