| Fall in Iowa by ocu24 at 5/31/2008 7:51:19 PM

The wind is blowing hard as I hiked through the forest, the trees creaking against each other for support that would last until early evening. The leaves of Fall so colorful but dry, scuttles across the path ahead. I see the squirrels digging deep to store the bounty for the months ahead as I wonder how do they find the exact place the storage of food?
The wisps of white thin strands of clouds almost like angel hair high above in the blue sky takes shapes of almost like wings. The sun shows the rays through the barren branches one by one as the leaves make their journey to the ground. Soon the ground is covered like a tapestry of rainbow colors that I have not noticed before.
A lone eagle floats weightless along the banks one side and the other not even moving its huge wings working with the force of the wind. I see it dip down from above its talons bringing up its catch and continuing down around the bend.
A huge log that has fallen down the bank bobs up and down with each strike of the whitecaps waves. I wonder if it will work its way, break loose only to travel downstream to find another place to rest. I continue to walk feeling the strong wind, smelling the musty dry heat of the late Autumn afternoon. A Burst of wind striking the tree in front of me in one whoosh completely strips the leaves and they fall into the river.
The wind then slows and I see the trunk covered with fungi once a green moss earlier this summer, now changed into a teal and brown with a gold tint. I can imagine a artist see this and painting a canvas of beauty for all to see.
Nature has a way to bring such change to the World we share. I am so Happy to be able to visualize remember how things were and how they are now.
A front mass of clouds fully across the horizon comes from the west brings a change to the sky, I see the colors change into a yellowish sky slowly turning into the golden dark almost right before my eyes as I reach the end of my hike. The birds are coming out from their nests and bringing a harmony of sound to the close of the day. The crickets are rubbing their legs almost like a lullaby to nature signaling the nightime to come. I believe that every insect and animal has its place in nature to provide a peaceful and harmony to the world we share.
