| Ducks Geese and Eagles by ocu24 at 6/2/2008 8:54:52 AM

The sound of geese honking brought me closer the snow banks along the river on this clear day with wisps of white thin clouds. The blue sky so mesmerizing to my eyes with the yellow sun in the distance. It was like a peace that one would have if they were invisible to all that is around. A light cool breeze from the south sends chills as I buttoned my jacket heading down to see.
I climbed up and over the high snowdrift to see the river filled with ice sheets traveling slowly down to another place only to become smaller as the weather warms up. Several ducks are floating closer to where the geese are gathered they seem to stop as not wanting to invade the privacy of the larger birds. A eagle perched high above in the row of bare trees towering above seeing my every movement. I scan the forest and see another eagle downstream just as beautiful as the first.
A short sweet sound of a red cardinal causing me to turn and see the beauty of the colors up close. It makes my day to be given an opportunity to have such a view.
I hear the Swishing sounds of ice now as I look all around to marvel at such a sight, for just is I as I try to take a hike down the virgin snow not touched by man or animal. Not wanting to disturb nature and its activity as I am just a visitor not bound by living in this area.
The sky seems to turn darker blue as the sun starts to travel over the river reflecting the light beams back to me from the ever moving ice. I wish I could find a big sturdy piece and float downstream although its only my little boy curiosity speaking to my mind. In my Heart I Know it would be foolish to do such a thing, but the mind can cause one to be adventurous.
The tree bark shows a white color as the blizzard snow and strong winds painted the landscape with such a distinct pattern as one side is white and the other brown, depending which way you look. Swirls of snow with a shiny ice coating on the plains wherever there was something to stop. A row of fence provided such a barrier as it was consistent all along of the wooden posts that almost were hidden less the top showing.
Hiking is becoming difficult as the terrain is deep with snow, I see a lone rabbit hopping carefully across the distance just light enough to almost skate on top of the cover of white seemingly forever ahead of me. Hopefully the eagle has not spotted the rabbit as it hurries with certainy that its vunerable here now.
I turn back retracing my footprints making it easier as the sun has gone behind the hill making it seem much colder as my breath becomes more visible as clouds of steam. I look to see where the eagle was perched and now there are both of them close together. The geese and ducks are gone now, hopefully safe on their way to a new resting spot with others of the same.
It is amazing to know that all these birds are in harmony this day, in numbers and not alone. All living with a purpose and ability to get along.
Thanks So Much for stopping by and reading my post! Have a Wonderful Day Everyday filled with Good Health Peace Love and Happiness!
