My statement on me: Part 1
by brubby at 8/27/2008 8:04:35 AM

If there ever was “the luckiest guy”… I figure he might as well have been me. My friends call me Brubby and this is my story.

Maybe lucky isn’t the right word. I am blessed. I am blessed to have been born in the United States of America and born into my family. It is a direct result of being born to parents whose love and devotion made me the terrific guy I am. And along the way I have made some amazing friends and met many brilliant people that have served as my mentors, and to you I must say thank you for making my life possible.

It is because of these people that you will find in me a flawless blend of sincerity, profundity, seriousness, humor, and irreverence. I believe in specific ideas and believe that those ideas have consequences.

I am convinced that few people really do think for themselves, although they believe they do. Thinking is demanding and tiring work. I don’t clime to have a monopoly on the cognitive arts but psychology tells us that we acquire most of our beliefs in-between the ages of 2-7. We seldom if ever challenge these beliefs. That’s a scary thought because we come in to this world as little skulls full of mush that know nothing of ourselves or the world around us. And let’s face it kids have some funny ideas. Stop and think about some of the ideas you had as a small child… see what I mean.

I question everything. I rottenly create lists of my beliefs and audit them. I ask myself if this belief benefits me or hurts me. I ask question why I believe what I do.

What really propelled me was the discovery of things I had not thought of before, new analogies, different ways of viewing both the world and myself and my place in that world. Gathering my thought and compiling all the data has been like reviewing a course in my life, with myself as the professor. Who better then I to teach such a subject?

As is true with any teacher the best teachers are first and foremost students.

I realize perhaps some of what I say maybe shocking and even offensive to some but I believe it to be the truth. It’s the way I lead my life… my way. After all in the end I am responsible only to myself and my God. These are my personal and beliefs and I present theme here for you. My life is wonderful and I hope along the way I can make your life a little bit better. Please feel free to take any of this and use it in your own life. If not then please disregard everything. But I know it works.

Believe me when I say that my purpose is not to offend. In fact, it bothers me deeply when someone is honestly offended because I don’t consider myself an offensive guy. Deep down inside I’m just a sensitive harmless, lovable little fuzzball.

Someone once gave me some advice. He said “Brubby lighten up!” He continued “we should all laugh more at ourselves.” His advice was like gold to me so I invite you to do the same, come on folks and if you can’t laugh at yourself, then laugh at me laughing for you. Hahaha!

I like to have fun, I like being irreverent, and I am dead serious about the things I feel passionately about and believe.
