Adventures in Home Repair

Yesterday was a major pain. I had Paul from Bennett's Glass installing some windows and my plan was to patch some drywall and run some cable for a TV just outside, but still watchable from, the kitchen. Anyway, I finish filling the gaps between the patch and the wall and went into the bathroom and washed off the taping knife. Pushed on the handle to turn off the 40 year old faucet and no go, the water is still running. Got underneath and slowly started turning the 40 year old shutoff valves with a pair of Channellocks. No go, the water is still running. Great! I have all the tools and materials ready to do drywall and I have to leave the water running for an hour waiting for the washer to finish, then shut off water to the entire house and run to Lowe's for new shutoff valves. Between hunting for pipe wrenches and stubborn fittings, it took up another 3-4 hours until my yoga class started. I had planned on making cream of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. I ended up with a late dinner of leftover pizza. Oh! And did I mention I HATE doing plumbing!
