| NOSE PICKERS by scribbler33 at 10/25/2007 1:27:45 PM
WHAT DO THEY DO WITH THEM ?
I know you’ve seen people picking their nose without a handkerchief or tissue in sight? Ever wonder where the stuff they dig out of themselves on those mining expeditions goes?
I’ve had people at my home on several occasions, sometimes for casual get together’s, other times for more dress up affairs, and each time I have had a group of people at my home, I’ve seen, at least, one person at some time during the time they are there, picking their nose.
At first, when I was younger, I didn’t think much of it. I thought what they were doing should have been done away from the other’s, in the privacy of my bathroom, or possibly outside... But some of the times it was during a BBQ, outside, that someone picked their nose... But they could have gone to a place behind something so they were not seen.
At first, I wondered what they were thinking at the time. But being a considerate host, I didn’t say anything to them about their explorations with their finger inside their nose - in front of everyone that was able to see them. Instead, I tried to look away and let the pickers finish their excavation, in hope of my other guests following my lead and averting their eyes to see whatever appeared to have caught my attention.
I think it was the time I witnessed one of our guests start his exploration of his nose, hit the mother load which he had successfully removed from it’s place of lodging inside, then started rolling it between his index finger and thumb... That was, I’m sure, the first time I began to wonder “what is he going to do with it?”
The incident happened like this: We had just bought new furniture, after doing some renovations to the living area and kitchen of our house. We were having a ,sort of, house warming party to show off the changes we had made, along with our new furniture. The person rolling the booger between his fingers, was sitting in one of our new, overstuffed, chairs that was covered with soft, beige colored fabric. He was holding a drink in one hand, rolling his booger, without a care, in the other.
My wife had pointed out to me that our friend was vigorously digging in his nose, by casually bumping me in the shoulder then motioning me with her eyes to look at what he was doing. So I had seen it happen, almost from the beginning.
What surprised me was not the fact he had vigorously picked his nose in public, or that he had dug out, what seemed to be a fairly large booger from it, nor the fact he was sitting there, nonchalantly rolling his find between his index finger and thumb... What surprised me was what I was thinking. I was wondering what he was going to do with the booger when he was finished rolling it in his fingers.
I didn’t want him to put it somewhere on our new chair. And I didn’t want him to give it a “flip” with his finger to land somewhere else, possibly hitting one of the other guests, or maybe landing in someone’s drink or plate... So I watched him to see exactly what he was going to do with his booger.
I kept my eyes on him, with great curiosity, like a cat watches it’s prey, to see what and how my friend was going to get rid of his booger.
I was still watching him closely when I noticed his fingers were no longer rolling the little nugget. I also noticed his drink was almost gone and decided I would take it from him and refresh it to see if he had deposited the booger somewhere on the glass - because he wasn’t using a napkin to hold the glass in.
When I took his glass to the kitchen, before getting him a fresh drink, I looked the glass over, very carefully, but didn’t find any trace of any part of anything that would be a booger.
Yet I had not seen him flip his ball or wipe his hand or fingers on the new chair, or anywhere else for that matter,.. But his fingers were empty. On both hands they were empty.
I was really curios then. When the guests had left I made it a point to check all over the new chair he had been sitting in when he had the booger, to see if he had wiped it somehow, somewhere on the chair.
I found nothing.
So, since then, I have tried to notice what a person does with what they dig from their nose when they are at my house. Not that it happens often that someone goes digging for a booger, and even less often that I see anyone pulling one from their nose... But when I do, I always watch them, very closely, to see what they do with them.
And I have yet to see what they do with them.
