| Beware the Ides of February

I know that usually folks fear the ides of March, but those of us among the singles world, usually find that the middle of February offers "V" day, which usually reminds us that we do not have a romantic partner. Like a lot of you, there is little I need and personally I dislike chocolate, but I do miss the conversations and companionship of a worthy mate. It appears that every movie, tv show and newly released book during the month of February deals with the subject matter of "love" between two people. My life is full of love. The love for my family and friends is always fullfilling. But, what about the love of someone special? This time of year I start to wonder if there is a special person still out there for me. Is there someone who shares my love of life, my appreciation of the smaller things, who also appreciates a roaring fire?
Perhaps I now understand why the month of March "comes in with a roar". It is probably based upon the fact that February sets us up for the renewal of love, while March brings us back to the real world. March's windy history blows away those thoughts, allowing us to continue along and anticipate the new growths promised each spring.  Peace.
