Eye problems for my oldest dog
by happyfoot1 at 3/8/2009 9:14:41 PM

Hi Everyone,
My dog is 15 and starting to show signs of age. Somehow her eye was scratched. I took her to the vet. She suggested I take her to the special opthomologic vet in Akron. I went down to see her and met with the wonderful people who saved the sight of my Norfolk Terrier a year ago.(8yr. old). I was given an ointment, two different pills and some drops. the ointment and the drops I had no trouble giving once every three days, and 4 times a day respectively, but the pills seemingly caused stomach distress. So, I cleaned her up and tried to stagger the pills, and one still causes stomach distress. I hope there is an alternative, so her eye can get better. It looks improved now, but I would like to know that she will be able to see. At 15 she is my "senior citizen" dog. I love her. We head back to the Vet this week. I hope there is improvement noted by the vet. Tonight, pill or no pill she did not eat her dinner. she has to wear and E collar to keep her eye from being scratched. I have to hand feed her but she passed up her food. I wonder what is wrong with it.
I do not trust dog food companies since the recall. Now, I wonder if I can trust the meat packers, who process the chicken I buy to boil for my dogs. Some days the dogs eat it and sometimes they avoid it altogether. Preservatives? I don't know. Good thing that there are milkbones. It is a worry, for sure.
