Well I had the surgery finally on Monday March 9'th. Horrible weather almost postponed the whole thing but I made it anyway, snow and ice or not.
During the surgery they accidentally cracked my left jaw bone but surprisingly that really didn't cause too much pain or any issues. I don't even notice it really.
They ended up having to remove 9 teeth in order to quell the infection and drain everything properly.
The roots of those teeth were twice the length that tooth roots typically are so it was a nasty procedure and left openings directly into my sinus cavity.
Trust me, that is not a fun situation.
During the surgery an instrument slipped and sliced my upper gum as well. These things happen but these things also suck!
The left side of my face/skull is coming along nicely but the right side, just wow.
For some reason 6 of the 9 extractions they made (the 6 being on the right side) all ended up with dry sockets.
Of those one is opened directly into my sinus cavity.
All of them currently have exposed bone and nerves and well, because of the lack of clotting they are healing very slowly and are very painful.
Painful in the ear, neck and entire jaw line on that side, top and bottom, and swollen lymph nodes.
Sleeping is a joke. If I get 2 hours before my sinuses start draining and inflame the roof of my mouth and gums and throb with pain until I am up in a shot I am doing good.
And to think I was worried about the holes they were going to make in the roof of my mouth to drain things...
That healed just fine and I can't hardly tell it even happened.
But that portion is all over with. The waiting and worrying.
Now I just have to heal.
And I am praying that I heal quickly because I have to get back to work.
I thank God for watching over me and my family during all of this mess.
Things could have turned out way worse than they did.
And even though I had to lose those teeth to save my life, that's okay because the new ones are really pretty and I am sure eventually I will get used to them.
And until I do, I really love chocolate pudding and ice cream anyway!
Praise God for soft yummy foods that I now have complete license to eat until everything heals.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for me.
Watch out world I am almost back so duck and cover!
Hugs and Blessings,
Jerri
