I Long
.. ..
.. ..
I long to hold her in my arms
Soothing all her harms
Watching her sleep
Lying naked next to me
All her defenses at ease
Knowing she is safe this place she’s in
I trace I love yous upon her skin
Peaceful and calmly as if all the world is right
I feel as if all time has stopped tonight
Watching her chest rise and fall
My mind whirling thoughts bouncing off the walls
Who could ever believe
She’d be here with me
Use me, abuse me, and cast me aside
I’d expect that, but no she can’t lie
Here she is bare before me
Sleeping eyes fluttering in dream
She finds me interesting reads me like a book
Cover to cover then takes a second look
Here I am waking in an empty bed
Just the way it was when I laid down my head
Was it but a dream, the phone rings
It’s her voice and God help me my heart sings
