Dream for Dreams

Ever wonder what it means to dream? I mean, we all do it in some capacity or another. There are apparently several definitions of the word when it pertains to a noun. The one that best suits me is this; a condition or achievement that is longed for; an aspiration. We all aspire to do things. But thinking about the word aspiration; a strong desire or aim; makes me wonder just how it relates to our everyday lives. So in other words, a dream can be a goal. I mean it is prevalent to say that what we dream can simply be a goal we “long” or “aspire” to achieve. Then again, a dream can be looked at another way; a wild or fancy hope. So if that is true, where the hell can one draw the line between a wild dream, and one that is something that can actually be achieved?

I think sometimes all I ever do is dream. I sit and think about how my life could be better. How things could be different, and how I would live my life if things in fact were. I dream of things that are quite wild. I dream of things that do take a certain amount of luck to transpire. I dream of consistency, which is something that is quite elusive in my life. I dream for promise; one of which guarantees that tomorrow will be better than today. I dream for truth; within myself and the world I live in. Finally, I dream, simply for dreams. The idea that dreams can be achieved, no matter how wild or fancy they are deemed.

I think it takes a strong person to fully understand the concept of a dream. I think because of the way most of us live our lives, dreams are something that aren’t even recognized. The most of us just live life, hoping to get somewhere; and when we finally stop to look around; we might just see glimpses of something that resembles a dream we once had. On the other hand, some people take the time to look around them. They capture the world in a picture in their mind and freeze it, locking it in their mind and heart. With that locked up picture, then they can be an artist on a canvas. They can make changes about the scene they are living in. They can erase that pile of bills sitting on the kitchen table. They can place a dream house where the apartment complex actually stands in front of them. They can change the way they see themselves. They can lose a few pounds, or even put some muscle on. Finally, they can put people in their lives that maybe aren’t there. They can surround themselves in a world with friends, happy faces, and a better quality of life.

If there is a point to this, I guess this would be my attempt at it; be an artist within your own life. Create the things you have always “dreamed” of having. For those who just live their lives hoping to get somewhere, often times they will find themselves stuck in the same damn place forever. Chase those dreams. “Aspire” to do great things. “Long” for the things you need in your life. Keep a “strong desire” to forge ahead during the tough times. Lastly, “aim” for the dream that dreams for those dreams; and the word “unachievable” should never exist in your vocabulary. For if we ever lose the ability, will, or right to dream, our lives will account for merely the opposite of everything you are capable of; and that is greatness…
