How could this be
by daddy1950 at 4/11/2009 4:30:17 PM

I have been told that I must be empathic because of the way I am able to help disabled people, elderly and children. I also have a healing touch when I give range of motion to paralyzed people or when I give a massage to A B's (able bodied people). I have trouble watching tear jerker movies because as a guy it doesn't feel right somehow. I have muscles and tattoos and I hate having to explain that something got in my eye. I have wanted to scream all week over the death of eight-year-old Sandra Cantu. My son is seven and I have him with me everyother week. All week he was with me and as usual, I watch over him like a hawk. I hug him and he hugs me back. Now he is back with his mother for a week and to hear the news today about a female Sunday School Teacher being arrested for the murder sets off a tornado of thoughts and worries. What would cause a woman or man to murder or even hurt a child and with the Easter/Passover or celebration of Spring upon us? I might be able to feel people's needs or pain, but I just can't get a handle on this perversion. As adults we teach and protect children. Kids look to us for their needs. What would cause someone to betray a child? Man, I'd rather be doing my silly mindless jokes, laughing and enjoying life, but now I can only offer prayer for Sandra, her friends and family. I also pray for my children's safety and the strength to get past this sad news.

start to tell your son what bad people do.. i know -- no one wants to make their child grow up this quick and in this way. however, it is the way to make your child safe.. i have a 10 yr old grandson.. he knows if someone grabs him he is to kick, scream, bite ect.. if someone at school is doing something to him he is to run to the office and tell.. these lessons can help the kids stay safe! what kind of person does this?? a sick - very sick minded person.. they are not wired right!! missy

I think that when you're a caring person (by nature) that this sort of news effects you the most. Sometimes we can turn a blind eye to the violence that touches the world around us and sometimes it hits just a little too close to our hearts. Children are often the one's that we as adults protect the least. Just this last week in the local news, there was a story of a teacher that had been sexually exploiting his students for the past 30 years. I simply couldn't understand how this has gone on for so may years. You'd think there would have been some sort of warning sign. I also think that no punishment is severe enough for this sort of individual. I'm sorry your Sunday has been ruined.
