The Beach
by jimmiebegood at 4/21/2009 9:49:14 AM

I think if everyone who wrote in their self-profiles, they enjoyed walking the beach, the beaches would be overcrowded! Couples would be jostling with each other to find their space! We all seem to love the beach (in a way). I noted license plates from NY, Vermont, and Pennsylvania in Plymouth, MA recently. The vehicles were parked along the seawall and beach of Cape Cod Bay, or in the Plymouth Harbor area. In another month Plymouth will begin to swell with visitors seeking a peak or a walk along the beach here in Plymouth. Of course this ritual will be repeated all over the coast for the next number of months. Yea.

Getting back to the 'I love walks on the beach' thought, why? I spend hours around the sea, looking out at the horizon. Looking into empty space, it seems. It's sort of like looking at a blank screen. The distant horizon, the expanse of water, the expanse and depth of the sky, day or night. Though you can focus on something for a moment, it all is soon open space, sky and sea... Maybe it is the blank aspect which draws us to ponder the deeper questions and expectations of our life. As a couple we dream together, what might be. We will draw our own picture on our canvas. We will look into the depth of possibility and we will reflect, plan, and dream our dreams; enjoy your long walks on the beach.

I enjoyed reading that. I've written several short stories and for nespapers, and I sense you are a good writer. I live on the ocean, and agree with how it can mesmorize you to lock into the beauty of it and reflect on what has been and what could be. Where I live, Wareham/Onset area, folks will be coming back to the ocean air and views and great sunsets after a long, harsh winter. I'm looking forward to a little more hustle and bustle around here, and my walks on the beach!

Hi fishtank and spiritedgal. I am so sorry not to have responded to your comments (months ago), but I don't post often, so I forgot all about it. Thank you!!
