Thanksgiving Week
by mysticaldi at 11/18/2007 1:23:12 PM

Still feeling nostalgic.... It must be the time of year. Last year at this time I was going to my Father's funeral.

Things are a bit sad... We have lost so many around our table. Things have changed. No longer is Thanksgiving around my house (Don't take that wrong, Mary), no Owen carving the Turkey and giving him a name. No more of my Dad's stuffing (haven't had it for a long time anyways, just nostalgic about it all).

It seems like when Owen was here, there were more "family" times. And, that makes me feel sad.

It is just change, and it seems the older I get, the harder it is to adjust to change. Or, at least in the past I had a partner to help through the changes.

I remember Thanksgiving at Grandma and Grandpa Winters house... how it would sometimes be snowy.

So, we are missing at our table Jack, Owen, Reggie and knowing my Dad was making his recipe of stuffing. I am missing old times. .

Life is just hard, constantly changing. That sometimes you wish for the "old" stuff, cause it is what you know and feel comfortable with. Adjusting is not easy.

So, last night I took the kids to go see the Lenoid meteor showers. We left and it was getting a bit cloudy. By the time we got up to the look out, it was really cloudy. I went further north, got to Ellijay and the clouds were really banked in. By that time, both kids were asleep, so I just returned home, sad that I didn't get to see them this year and nostalgic about past years and past "showers" and comets. On the way back home an owl swooped in front of the van. I wonder what that means.

I remember driving around, looking for a dark sky anywhere to be able to see the skies. We really need to do something about the light pollution!! We seem to think that we need light all the time... (I am guilty of that myself) So, there is always light and always noise. Wonder what we are avoiding seeing and hearing?

Yesturday, I also wanted to go to my meeting, but was unable to find it. I left a note with the leader, and he said it was in the area of the Wal-Mart shopping center. Hmmm, well I drove through the Wal-Mart shopping center (right beside Sam's Club) and didn't see it, but I am sure now I know where it is. So, maybe next week I'll get to go. Guess that goes to show that I am not Physic!!.

I expect this week will be a bit ruff... but I will continue to move on and adjust. Just will occasionally feel the tug of the past and wish it were still so.
