| What's the deal with these online dating sites?

I'm sittin on this shit spending mad time and I'm still not sure what the hell I'm supposed to be doin. Most of the time I'm positive that sites such as this one are for teasing and games. WTF?!
But, as I am one who learns hard lessons I guess I'm not willing to give it up just yet. I guess I'm just requesting that someone/anyone "Please prove me wrong"
Maybe socializing on the net has its own cliches when looked at comparitively with other social avenues such as: the library(lol), club/bar scene, athletic scene, religious scene, etc. If so, perhaps I don't meet the "criteria" for anything resembling fun online, or I am asking too much from free time and a computer.
You be the judge...What the hell am I missing?
