Childhood is a beautiful time in one’s life; filled with excitement, endless possibilities, and unbridled naivety
Mom is the prettiest woman on Earth
Dad is Superman
Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy are your dearest friends
Nothing elicits more joy than field trips or a sick day home from school
When you get big you can play pro ball, be a police officer, or even a ninja
The smell of fresh cut grass on a ball field, the saltwater at the beach, truly the perfume of summer
Nothing makes you feel cooler than hanging out with older siblings or cousins
If you scrape your knee or get a lump on your head no worries, Mom is there
How quickly all the world’s ills are defeated with a hug from Mom and a Happy Meal
Tragically, you get further and further from that magical place with every tick of the clock
You would give anything to return
Sadly, once membership is revoked you can never get it back
How I long for those simple days…

Those of you with younger siblings and/or children I beg you to fight with all of your might to keep your children in the utopia that is childhood for as long as you can. Trust me, in time they will undoubtedly be made aware of the joys and pains that accompany age. Avoid at all cost making captive audiences of your children, witnessing venom filled battles about money or your spouse’s flaws. Be more patient than you feel any parent should. Yes, you are only human, but to your children you are a GOD! What is seen cannot be unseen, what is heard cannot be unheard. Love your children!
