Beneath the sky this evening
I hear the song of the birds and the bullfrogs
I can feel the rain building in the clouds
drawing comfort and desire
from the simplest of things
I should be cleaning or vacuuming
or folding the laundry
but once the rain falls
this moment will be lost to me
the sounds and the smells
are to enticing to leave
the music is playing in the background
I'm praying for more moments like this
now reality begins to sneak in
the chores are piling up
and bills needing to be paid
I wait for the day to come
when I can enjoy times like this
without worry
wondering how tomorrows needs will be met
I want nothing more from life
than more memories like these
spent with my children
and the love of a lifetime
as the years pass
the worries will fade
but the memory of stepping back
to enjoy such a blessing
will forever be time well spent
