| Daily 06.13.09: The iPhone Breakup by thatgamerguy at 6/14/2009 1:17:28 PM

From JohnStaton.com:
Oh, iPhone – we’ve had such a wonderful relationship but I think it might be time to part company.
Really, things just aren’t going to work out.
I mean c’mon, with the new “you” arriving next Friday — youv’e changed and gotten more expensive. The new you is hardly worth the extra money.
I thought I’d get you at the subsidized price but Apple and AT&T don’t see it that way. I realized that even though I love you, I’d have to let you go when they told me how much money you were going to take out of my wallet. Apparently the $199 and $299 pricetags are for new AT&T customers only, and you’ve forgotten about us early adopters that paid $500 for the original “you” and then $300 for the so-called new and improved 3G version. You’ve forgotten about those that truly loved you for “you”. A precedent was set last year when you let 1st gen owners upgrade, why can’t we do it this year?
And I realize that this has more to do with AT&Ts and North America’s fondness for buying cheap phones attached to long term contracts – but let’s face it, you’re weren’t cheap to begin with and the fact that I’m going to have to pay another $500 for the new “you” is unacceptable.
Just so you know, I’m seeing someone else. Her name is the Palm Pre and she’ll be here in a couple weeks.
