| How to make this work....

I really thought online dating sites made a lot of sense....you get to know a bit about the other person...you know they're available/looking....you can make a gradual introduction to each other without the need for alcohol....but seems like there's something else in the way to making this work....
There's the "all-important" photos that seem to overwhelm everything else...at least it's usually the key to further investigation...but it's really most like "watching the girls go by"...and I've never dated anyone that I saw walking down the street...well, okay, just once..I was young...she was very cute...
Seems like I've only become involved with someone when I've had extended time around this person, usually in a professional situation...common work has been the place where I've met people that became meaningful to me....
So maybe in this blogging space? People can read/write their way into some common ground...maybe companionship....maybe more...'cuz there's no doubt that people want and need a place for comfortable encounters...and in your 40's/50's, bars aren't (if they ever were) a place to start something worthwhile...
