| Saturday Morning Calls From Mom by trueblue5ft2 at 7/24/2009 10:44:27 AM

I have had this same exact conversation with my mom every Saturday morning for the past 15 years! Gawd, I love her lol
RINGGGGG!! RINGGGGG!!
Me: Hello?
Mom: Hi Pat ( HATE when she calls me that) This is your mom ( Like I wouldn't recognize her voice after 52 yrs?)
Me: Hey there mom, how are you and everyone
( I listen while she describes her lil aches and pains and how my step dad is doing and my brothers and sis. Then I lay the phone down an go fix me a glass of tea and watch the news while she reports how all her neighbors, people in her Sunday School class are doing AND the going-ons at the local pharamcy)
Mom: So how are you Pat? Are you eating well? You are not eating alot of fast-food junk are you?
Me: Nooooo mom.. am eating healthy these days. ( makes a mental note to clean out all the Dairy Queen and Burger King trash out of the back of my jeep.
Mom: That's good honey. Are you taking the vitamins that I sent you?
Me: Sure am mom ( I must remember to take the vitamins out of the box that she sent 2 months ago)
Mom: (here is the dreaded hesitation) Soooooo.. Pat... have you met any nice fellers? Are you dating? Going out and having fun?
Me: ( rolls my eyes) I don't date much mom.. ya know.. busy and all that
Mom: Now Pat, it is not good to be alone. You really should start getting out. You need to find a nice man to spend your time with. ( This from a woman who used to sit at the kitchen table with me and enjoy male bashing until she married her childhood sweetheart in 99)
Me: I know mom and when I do.. I promise you will be the first one to know ( I won't have to tell anyone else because she will have beat me to it) Well mom, I should go now.. ( mumbles under my breath) gotta go out and hunt me down a feller so you will stop worrying
Love ya mom! Tell everyone I said hi and I love them.
Mom: Ok Pat, you take care of yourself and don't forget your vitamins. You aren't a spring chicken anymore. I love you honey. I will call you next Saturday morning.
