| It's funny...

I heard something hilarious the other day. It's an OLD Adam Sandler line from one of his comedy showcases. His response is to the saying "life is short" and it goes like this; "Life is short? That's bullshit! Life is the longest damn thing you will ever do! Can you think of anything that you will do that is longer than life?"
When I heard this it was a breakthrough for me. It's probably one of those cosmic "right thing at the right time" moments or whatever, but it hit me right between the eyes. I grew up in a Christian home where my parents basically regurgitated what they heard in church. And "Life is Short" was one of them. I asked my mom about that and she said, "Compared to eternity, our life is but a blink of an eye." I must have looked at her like she was crazy, because she looked at me real weird!
But the thing she failed to realize is that in the Bible when it talks about that, it is talking about how big God is and how feeble we are. It's not talking about what we should be doing on a daily basis. That's one of the reasons I don't attend church anymore. That and the fact that most churches are like every other establishment, much like a job. They have a few people that are there because they are passionate about it and the rest of them are there because they feel they "should" be there. They feel guilty if they miss a Sunday or miss a meeting or anything like that.
What things are you doing in your life because you feel you "should" be doing them instead of doing them because you want to do them? Life is too LONG to do things you do not want to do. Start doing the things you want to do today. Start small... And go from there...
