What about Manners?
I just realize that the world has lost something of extreme value! What happened to people that they have lost the ability to show appreciation… to show courtesy… what happened to people that has caused so many to forget how to say "please and thank you"?
The world has become a self-indulgent, self-serving , all about "me" society! Oh, don't get me wrong… I do not expect someone to slobber all over me if I open a door for them, buy them dinner or pick up something they have dropped…. But it would be nice to hear a "thank you"… to know that what you did was appreciated… that it was even noticed!!!!
It would appear that the "baby boomers"… an eventually soon to be extinct part of the social structure… failed to adequately instill upon their offspring the values that were traditionally upheld by their parents! Thus, as evolution would have it….the "x", "y" and whatever you call this generation of kids growing up today… do not even know the meaning of courtesy… "Thank you? For what they respond"!!!!
I have reached that age and social standing where I am no longer a "Dude"… or a "Dog"… nor a "Bro"… or a member of a "Crew"… I have earned the right to be called "Sir"… it irks me to no end when someone's spawn calls me by my first name… as if they have known me all my life and have earned the right to be so personal! As a sign of respect, my parent's friends were not "Bob… Bill… Mary" to me… they were… and still are… MR. and Mrs…. it was respect!!!… not familiarity… I am sorry… but having some 14 year old pre-puberty, pimple faced kid, whose pants are hanging so low that his a** is hanging out, call me by my fist name is simply…. Offensive!
The disrespect and lack of manners is not only confined nor directed to people of my age… it is most definitely shown and evidenced by the behavior of our young males toward the females they come in contact with. Teenagers freely throw out the word "ho".. "beautch" when talking about their mothers, girlfriends…. Why? Probably because they can't spell girlfriend never mind spelling b*tch! And this is acceptable…. ?
No… society has lost the ability to say "thank you… please… your welcome"… it has lost the ability to care about what others think… hell… it is losing the ability to spell and add.. and subtract… to count.. to converse.. to interact…! Social skills are declining … kids are spending more time on the computer playing video games than they used to spend watching television…something I never… ever.. thought I would see!!!!!
So if any kid is reading this…. Next time your BFF texts U …" R U  )" … pick up the phone.. or better yet.. go see them and talk with them…. you might learn a little more about them.. and when you knock on their door… try saying "Hello Mrs Smith… may I speak with my best friend"?.... try it…even if it is just to see the look of disbelief on their mothers face!
