Where were You when the World Stopped Turning?
by angelic_magic at 9/6/2009 10:57:15 AM

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue
The heroes who died just doing what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

I won't ever forget..i hope we all remember the fear we had...the togetherness of being american...the pride in what we could accomplish as a nation IF we behaved as ONE nation under God...i hope we can all remember to take PRIDE in being an American...to CARE about others...to care about ourselves...To be thankful we live here in this country that has made it's share of mistakes..but it is OUR HOME.

My son in the AF, had been offerd a job with Delta and a weather station, as all that happened, I knew without a doubt, he'd reup, he did. He was in Afganistan at the time, so when he called, he could use the web cam and see what was on tv and report it back to the guys there. I think the new ship made from that scrap metal is a lasting tribute . If you haven't seen it, it's a ship made for terriost attacks and can go anywhere, USS NY. Thanks for this posts. USA!!!!

Thank you all for taking time to read this...Esp. as the anniversary of 9-11 gets closer.i remember the feeling that war had come to america's soil that day.I hope we all remember those feelings 9-11 caused to well up in us all and keep them in our hearts..We are still a "young" nation..working out the kinks..it takes everyone working together...we should be proud of the nation that our ancestors helped create for us..we should be proud of what our country stands for.We should never forget the sacrifices people have made, and we should understand that sacrifices were what created this country.

Port Edwards WI,working fiberglass piping at the paper mill.I was on break sitting in my van and heard it on the radio, hundreds of workers on site for a maintaince sht down were wandering around in shock. No I will never forget.Soon after I painted the box on my truck red white and blue with th saying never to forgive, never to forget on the tailgate.Kept a supply of sharpies with me so people could wriet and sign their own messages on it.stayed that way for several years.

God Bless each and ever one of you who have spoken from your heart, it would be truly nice if those love ones from 9/11 and those who survived could no how you feel and the total support you have for them as well as our nation as a whole.

Forgot to mention that it's an old rusty Dodge truck with a hopped up motor and LOUD pipes and I always get a little naughty with it ,the local PD never seemed to notice though as long as that paint job was on it.People show patriotism in many different ways. That's appropiate as this is the melting pot called the USA...PEACE TO ALL...

I believe we were given a "gift" of sorts with 9-11..a chance to pull together..to not forget what america stands for. Each person who carries the memory in their heart is a living eulogy to those who were lost that day. Thanks for sharing of yourselves, for taking the time to remember.
