" The Dancing Banana "
by retroh at 9/7/2009 4:17:07 AM

What is the appeal of the ' Dancing Banana ' emoticon logo on here ?

He dances that's what! I firmly believe if most regular guys REALIZED just how much ladies love to dance .... they would be more prone to join in. To take this even further, I believe there is more to this than we all know! Ever notice how usually the lady outlives the hubby? Well, I refer back to the 'Dancing Banana' mystery. Maybe sweet Cindy Lauper put it best: "Gurls just wanna have fu- un ! Gurls just wanna have fun"! i.e. dance.
Now this is just a theory but perhaps the ' Dancing Banana' could save the planet, OR just continue to make me smile every time I see his goofy smile, bad grooves, and skinny legs! The point is he just doesn't give a sh*t ! He dances anyway ! He's not handsome, no money, short shelf life, bug eyes, and aforementioned bad grooves, really bad. So, even though the guys that need the encouragement will not be reading this blog; they are the ones that need to hear it the most, and yet the admonition is for ALL of us. Get off mah a*s and just DANCE! I used to think a good hug would save most people from despair. Now, I'm thinking a nite of dancing their collective a*sses off would do it nicely as well ! Beyond the global initiative of the ' Dancing Banana ' as ambassador; one thing really burns me up. I've sat in a great club full of couples, good band, good drinks, and watched as the guys SIT on their butts and pretend their lady doesn't care if they dance or not.
Grrrrrr! Often there is an extreme shortage of singles and the only available wiling 'dancers' are hitched! I've even seen the ladies busting moves at their table and still no action on the guy's part.
Ladies, these guys are very insecure, or at least not extroverted at all. They are too busy worrying that someone might see them and laugh or some crap at them. Is dancing somehow NOT manly? Is it gay? Do I really look like a 'tard when I dance? These are a few of the frightening thoughts permeating the male EGO. A fear ruled life will always keep me on the proverbial bench of life. As to the ladies outliving the guys; dancing has health benefits physically AND emotionally; not to mention it's just plain old free FUN ! It's the one exercise that you DON'T need to consult a physician first! Now as to the NEED to dance. For some reason when I hear good music I need to dance. Does this speak to former lives lived? Was I an African Witch Doctor busting mooves in the Amazon ? No. I just like it. I've been single awhile now, devorced, alone and without a dance partner. My problem is the asking. Seems that alot of ladies have been hit on for sex with the precursor being asked to dance. Some guys just really want to dance. When I ask you to dance it is the vertical mambo, not the horizontal mambo I have in mind. Hidden motives, alterior motives do abound! And alot of guys think of sex every few nanoseconds; I'll give you that! And yet, some of us purists, just like to dance! Really, I'm a gentleman and I don't think that because of one dance you are going to now want to rip your clothes off, throw me down on the bacteria laden floor and give me the dance of my life! For me, it just doesn't happen that way!!! Maybe I'm old fashioned but I'd like to wait until after the band finishes with their first set!!! No, actually when I ask you to dance, it's just that , a dance. Just for the pure love of dancing. I will admit to this, it is very appealing to see some of you MOVE. Gurls just move mo' bettah' than the male of the species. Well, at least they move differently.... maybe there is a sort of mating ritual dance, I'll have to take the class if there is. I'm just a sort of 'freestyle' rock n roll dancing fool. Yeah fool ! I'll say it. I'm sure there have been times when people ( jealous guys ) have said ; "Look at THAT fool!" I'll wear that badge. The alternative is that damn proverbial bench! I am not gonna sit, listen, tap a foot, and just leave. I'll tip the band, dance, smile, laugh, and yes even make a fool out of mahself! Just for the pure pleasure of being on the floor. Saturday night at Main Street, DAB
there was a block party. Main St. was closed off to vehicles. Froggy's had one of my favorite local cover bands, Steam the Band. The best of the band is the lead singer. She can usually get the peeps off their butts and dancing. Noone was! All voyeurs every one of them. There were the ladies standing and dancing in place, guys drinking brew pretending not to notice it. Nicole the singer ( I think that's her name? ) was using a cordless mike and working the perimeter of the crowd. She recognized me, one of their groupies, grabbed my hand and we danced right there. She never missed a beat. She wanted to be twirled, which is NOT my specialty! Still, it was just pure FUN! No hidden agendas or assumptions! Point is the fear will stop your guys from dancing every time. Not everyone is down for being the only guy up there dancing. Not required, but hey it's dimly lit, dozens of people also dancing, no one really cares how you move; so just DANCE! As for the 'Dancing Banana' saving the world, 'things' on earth have gotten so ridiculous that it may just actually work.
Dave aka The Dancing Fool, have a great life !

If you don't dance, you have missed out on expressing pure joy through movement! Joy makes you move, so just move! Here's to dancing your way through life!
