| I Put Out My First Fire. by doublejointed at 9/13/2009 11:27:32 AM

It was not all that epic, but it counts. The instructor walked over to this little square dugout, filled it with gasoline, and put a match into it, FWOOM holy crap someone call the fire department. When it was my turn the instructor asked me if the fire extinguisher sitting in front of me was the right one for the job. It totally was. I made sure I was on the downwind side of the flames, pulled the pin, aimed, and boom the fire was out. Apparently I need to "sweep the nozzle" more next time, but whatever.
WHAT A MOMENTOUS OCCASION
As a reward for putting out the fire, I was able to take my firecoat off and decrease my chances of falling over dead of heatstroke. Did you know that the number-one cause of firefighter deaths is heart attack due to overexertion? Heavy stuff.
