| simple question

I am new to this whole online dating, blogging and basicaly interacting with people online, My question is this, I have met a few ladies online chatted with them and liked what i saw in their profile...picture included and then i find out that the pic is like 15 years old and that is not what they look like now.....so why is so difficult for people to just be honest and even more important happy with who they are?
