Diabetes

Found out 7/13 I have diabetes. Weighted 179 and I am 4'10". Took control of my eating habits and I have lost 29 pounds as of 9/22. I am on medication but not on insulin yet. Hopefully controling my diet and weight will at least postpone the needle. Nothing like a new disease to give you a wake up call right?

I v'e been dealing with it for seven years, Type II. There's been ups and downs. I have allergies to the meds(a lot contain Sulfa), but do the best you can and do what's best for you. Don't let people preach to you, 'cause they don't know. You HAVE to eat and don't let anyone tell you how! Tell your doc when you think you're having trouble. Don't let it ride or wait til it passes. Pay attention to your body and keep on top of stuff (your pre and post meal readings). Keep all your apts. and take your meds. I HATE exercize! but at least walk everyday. Using your muscles, and weight resistance helps your cells take in what they need. Go to the Association website for resouces. Good luck!
