So, the doctors have declared me disabled due to herniated discs and other conditions in my lower back. Check out my forum post in Singles with Disabilities. I still like all the same activities I did before, but now they have to be done in moderation. I walk a bit slower, and have to sit down from time to time, but it hasn't changed who I am inside. I used to get out of bed every morning by 6 and be up, dressed, fed, & out the door in 30 min. flat, work hard & play even harder. Now I'm lucky to get out of bed by 10 & that's after I've taken my pain meds so I can get up. By noon or one I'm usually functional and up trying to get stuff done. Life came to a stand still for me, and is now just starting to move again, all but at a snails pace. It's quite a wake up call when your body ceases to function. But the good side of all this is since I'm moving at a snail's pace, I see things in life and people that I would have missed before or glossed over moving at the break neck speed that I used to have. I was busy in the corporate world trying to get ahead and not really paying attention. Life has a funny way of making you stop and look and pay attention to what's important. My daughters are what's important, and even though I've been "side lined" in life, I've been able to be home and have some special moments with them that I totally would have missed before. Everything happens for a reason, even things we percieve as bad at the moment, happens for a reason unknown to us. Each occurance, each moment, each relationship, everything is there for a reason, be it as a lesson in life, or a stepping stone to something better. Always remember....the glass is half full....not half empty.
