I am talking about Love.
Once you love someone, you don’t fall out of love.
It’s always there, and it’s a part of you.
It might have hurt.
Heartache is a tool for the soul; it helps us learn things about ourselves.
It might have left a scar.
Scars remind us to be cautious with ourselves.
It meant something to you.
At one time it might have meant everything to you.
You cannot just turn off love; it resides inside our hearts. Maybe you have buried it where you feel it cannot be found.
But love buried tends to bubble up when we least expect it to. It causes all kinds of doubts to fester.
Love was not a waste of your time.
All love has value and worth.
No one can call love worthless.
Instead of trying desperately to fall out of love, instead of trying to stop caring,
it seems to be easier to just to let that love go.
Let go with grace.
Release it rather than fight against it.
Open your heart and bring that love to the surface. Take time to remember how good it felt when it was a part of you.
At that time in your life it was right for you.
It was a love not meant to last but to guide you on your way to the love you search for. It had purpose and meaning in your life. It mattered and it had worth. Honor the memory of that love by remembering the love and happiness instead of the pain and heartbreak.
I remember reading a story of two men.
One of these men was young and claimed to have the most beautiful and perfect of hearts. He showed his heart to all, boasting of its perfection and beauty. One day while in the midst of a crowd an old man stepped forward and said his heart was more beautiful than the young man's flawless heart. The young man and crowd laughed at the old man's heart full of scars and jagged edges where pieces had been removed and replaced. The young man said "Mine is perfect and yours is a mess of tears and scars." The old man replied "Yes, bit it's those scars that make mine beautiful. The jagged edges are where I've given a piece of my heart to someone and replaced it with a piece of their heart given to me. The empty gouges are where I've given a piece away and the person didn't return my love, the gouges stay open until some day I hope they will be filled again. Do you see the true beauty of a heart?" The young man silently walked over to the man with tears running down his cheeks and gave him a piece of his heart, and the old man returned a piece of his own heart to the young man.
Love is not just something that deserves to exist buried inside yourself. It deserves to be let out and you deserve the peace of letting it go. Set your heart and mind free to love again. This allows time to bring back love into your life.
Those people that we have loved – that love isn’t gone. It’s just faded, and we should remember it that way.
A memory, dull, washed out, yet still alive inside of us.
A memory that no longer holds any power over us.
A memory that will help us to grow in the knowledge that love
.........always has a reason, and a season.
