New Week
by 1oleman at 10/5/2009 6:15:08 AM

Hope this week turns out better than last week. I think I will concentrate on finishing up my motorhome repairs this week. This past Saturday I spent most of the day rewiring the auxiliary battery system, got that done. Now my focus shifts to the hanging brake light problem. Not too bad of a job, got take down the steering column and remove the instrument dash cluster and hopefully oil up all the moving parts on the brake pedal mechanism so the brake pedal will come back up to it's resting position. Sound like fun? I tell you for an old 1975 model, it has held up pretty good. I've had a lot of people ask me why I keep it. I tell them like I used to tell my late wife( GOD rest her soul) We will never be homeless. Don't want to be living under a bridge or in a cardboard box. Well it looks like fall has arrived, chilly morning, warm afternoons. The leaves they be changing to their fall colors. (awesome) We haven't had our first good frost yet, Gotta be close though. Also looking forward to the end of the month when my church has "trunk or treat" I love to see all those kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes. I wondered though what the LORD thinks about using his house for a pagan holiday. Well I got to git and do some work, so till we meet again GOD BLESS

Halloween is not pagan.....it has roots in the Celts Samhain (Lord of the Dead].... to Christians it is All hallows eve or All Saints eve.In 835, Pope Gregory IV moved the celebration for all the martyrs (later all saints) from May 13 to November 1. The night before became known as All Hallow’s Even or “holy evening.” Eventually the name was shortened to the current Halloween. On November 2, the Church celebrates All Souls Day.

I am feeling the pains of the contortionist act needed to do that job.I'm not that flexible anymore and try to leave those jobs to my crew chief..30 year old son that is.......

Our church celebrates All Souls Day by reading aloud the names of congregation members or family members who have died during the previous year in remembrance of them.

Not trying to start a fuss, but the Bible teaches not to use the church for those kind of things.Remember when Jesus caught the people in the church gambling.....he overturned the table....and cast all the people out----Matthew-21:12 and 13------hugs--fal

1ole, it seems you have a lot of work cut out for you, I hope it all goes well. I understand what you say about church and halloween. but we tend to forget it is a harvest celebration and only remember the pagan aspect. though I must admit it is it is one of my favorites. kids just enjoy the dress up part and treats, I bet not one kid under the age of 10 knows it is a pagan holiday.
