Saying goodbye to a dear friend.
by actor215 at 10/21/2009 10:39:14 AM

It's been a rough night. We had to say goodbye to our beloved Romeo, a little black chihuahua who was such a big part of our family. He was in so much pain I just couldn't bear to see him suffer anymore.

I remember the day my late wife brought him home, almost fifteen years ago. She had picked him because he was the runt of the litter; she felt sorry for him and wanted to save him from that puppy mill.

He was so tiny, and frail; we had to give him liquids with an eyedropper and feed him from the tips of our fingers. But he got stronger, and grew, and carved his place into all of our hearts.

Even though he'd reluctanly perform his many tricks, and patiently posed for all those pictures wearing all those silly costumes, he was very independent-minded, which only became more pronounced as he got older. It was so hard to watch his health decline over this last year.

He was her dedicated companion for nearly twelve years, and I'm sure he never understod why she just stopped coming home to him. I have to believe that they are now reunited in a much happier, and healthier, place.

Goodbye dear friend, we loved you very much.

Don, I am very sorry for your loss, you do know that he is not in any pain and he is playing with other doggies now. I know he cannot be replaced but find comfort in knowing that you gave him the best life a dog could have had, if you need to talk, just let me know, hugs

The loss of a companion like that, there is no words to make it hurt any less. I little guy like that can grab your heart strings and they are there forever. Know he is in a place where he has no pain, only happiness, while waiting for you someday. All pets cross the Rainbow Brige, while he journey was sad for you, he was wagging his tail at the happiness he was running towards. Romeo will forever be in your heart and the memories, no one can take from you.
