I need help!
by jo52562 at 10/27/2009 2:06:44 PM

Yes I could use help - but what I'm really looking for is suggestions and thoughts on how to help my daughter.

Three weeks ago my 29 year old daughter suffered a minor stoke. Her left side went numb and with physical therapy she should make a full recovery. She will be unable to work for six months and to reach full recovery it may be a year.

Financially she is struggling and I am unable to help her. She lives with her boyfriend who is not working and my grand daughter. Prior to her stroke she worked a full time and a part time job trying to make ends meet. I am not happy about her living situation or that her boyfriend doesn't work - but that is my daughters choice not mine Since she is now unable to work, there is no money coming in. The list is long on who she owes and what she stands on losing and for this period in time she cannot do anything about it.

My question is this - how can she seek assistance for herself and my grand daughter or how can I organize a fund to help her keep a roof over her head with electric and gas as well as groceries?

I'm not looking for sympathy here - I really just want to pick everyone's brain in order to come up with ideas to help. This is just the fastest and easiest way I could think of. Thank you all in advance for your thoughts and ideas.

Go to your church and if that does not work then she can get rent paid through hud and that boy friend will need to get off his A_____ and he cannot live with in low rentals with her thank god , and the rent can be as little as 12 dollars a month it goes by what you are drawing ...Good Luck and so sorry to hear of her problems and glad she will recover.

Public aide would be the best bet. They can provide them with emergency food stamps and emergency assistance.

Thank you all for your suggestions. SS disability is out - she would have to be disabled for a year in order for her t receive SS disability. she has applied for food stamps and it is amazing to me how long everything takes to be processed. I TOTALLY agree that she needs to lose the boyfriend - not likely to happen though. UGH!! Does anyone know how to establish a fund for donations to help her? Again I truly thank you all for your ideas and suggestions!!!
