Cooking...

Roasted a chicken. I'll try the matzo ball soup again. Had chicken with home-made cherry chutney and a salad for supper. Chicken is de-boned and the skin, bones, and carcass are simmering for soup base.

Also braising a beef shoulder roast with carrots, onion, celery, and of course 'taters... Seasoned with a bit of "what's 'is here sauce", bay leaves, half a bottle of home-made cherry wine... Turned it off after 5 hours, cooling now.

Should be enough juice to make loads of gravy.

Need to buy eggs to make some Yorkshire puddings and the matzo balls...

I kinardly wait for roast beef sandwiches with a bit of cheese, stone-ground mustard, and horseradish...

The matzo balls came out a tad on the tough side but keep floating even when cooled, for a couple of days now. Maybe try a tad bit of baking powder to lighten them up and a tad more fat to soften them... Yorkshire puddings fell. First time I had that happen. They got bout 2 inches tall then the centers just collapsed... The dogs didn't seem to mind the flawed presentation. Still enjoying the roastbeef/gravy/taters though... A blonde with a brown skirt (Guiness stout in a glass) might be just the ticket to go along...
