Is It Really Up To Race?
by miabear at 11/1/2009 6:47:19 AM

If my skin was lighter
would you trust me?
If I had an accent
would you follow me?
Is it really up to race?
If I was blonde with blue eyes
would I have gotten that job?
The one working with your money?
You cant trust me Boss?
Is it really up to race?
If I wasn’t Mexican
would you have refrained
from the "border jokes"
that give us a bad name?
Is it really up to race?
If I wasn’t Asian
would you have expected less?
Would I still have to get a 3.0?
Or be able to slide with D's and F's?
Is it really up to race?
If I was white
would I get a chance
to better my life
without suspicion and non-tolerance?
Is it really up to race?
How I am seen,
what you think of me,
is it based on personality?
Or am I just a n**ger
scrapped off the side of the road?
How about a spik
speaking the only language that I know?
Do I resemble the man
who stole from you first?
Because I am different
will I snatch your pretty blue purse?
Or am I just like you
a person withy a soul?
With family and friends
trying to live in this hell hole
And maybe I have feelings
that you carelessly erase
every time you push me low
Is it really up to race?
If it is,
if that's the case,
let me lynch you
and shoot YOU in the face.
For all the sweat and pain
you created for my sisters and brothers
Lets make you suffer
the treatment you’ve put upon others
With this said
and put into place
is it really
up to race?

Omg hun you just really touched my heart with that. Ignorance still exists and so do taboos. For instance a spanish woman told me that I was too pretty to be black instead of asking me my ethnicity. I commend u on the usage of your words. It truly truly touched a nerve...York
