Much buzz has been going around because according to the Mayan calendar, we all will "bite the big one" on December 21, 2012. Before you start to panic, remember Y2K. Hey we're still here! I find that people who are harsh critics of the sci-fi genre don't understand the nature of sci-fi. Many can't see the difference between horror and science fiction. Science fiction explores some pretty interesting things like man playing God for instance. Needless to say, the consequences of that can be quite dire.
