Toxic Black mold!!!!
This can be lurking inside the walls of your home!!!
My first encounter with toxic black mold was when my first wife was pregnant with my daughter. We were living in some old apartments. It was a very cold and wet winter, and we didn't have any electricity. It had got shut off. Our bedroom walls became covered with toxic black mold behind the bed. We did not notice this until we moved. I felt and tasted mold in my lungs for about 6 months.
The second time is when I bought an old mobile home to put on my property that I was anxiously developing. It was a 1969 style model. It seemed ok when I bought it. I had it set up on the 1.5 acres. It had a few small roof leaks that I just coulnd't ever get sealed up. Slowly, the mold crept in. I had got divorced and remarried. We lived happily at the house for a while. The mold got really a lot worse that year. It became unbearable, and it was making my children sick. They would cough everynight for no apparent reason . My son who was just born at that time had difficulty breathing at nights and caught many colds. We had to take him to the hospital for breathing treatments. We couldn't figure out why he was getting so sick.
It finally dawned on us that it must be the moldy smell.
We had to do something quick! our son's life was in danger! We went to our local social services office. They were completely unwilling to help us in any way until we contacted Child Protective Services. They got the social services office to respond VERY quickly. Within a couple hours, we had a voucher to get a motel.
We sold our property as quick as possible and moved here to Crescent City.
We were trying to buy another place out here, but that fell through. So we rented a nice 3 bedroom/2 bath/ 2 car garage house.
My wife and I were both working. We both lost our jobs within a week of each other. We were unrightfully fired. We lost our place to rent.
So I bought an old motorhome for us to live in. I was told by the seller that it didn't leak at all. Guess what, he lied! It leaked like a sieve. Now I was stuck; with me, my wife and 2 kids in a leaky motorhome. Oh yeah, this was October, so winter was on it's way. Needless to say, the toxic black mold crept in and started overwhelming the motorhome.
My son was almost 2 years old at the time. My daughter was 8 or 9 years old. I knew that we had real problems now. I tried to get help to move out of there. I was refused at every turn! ( I also have debilitating health problems.)My son was sleeping as was everyone else. I was just getting a drink of water before bed. It was just after midnight. My son, Anthony started coughing as usual from the pungunt odor of the musty mold. There not usually anything that I can do about it. He was laying on his back as usual, sleeping. He coughed a bit then vomitted. It covered and obstructed his airway so that he couldn't breathe. I was horrified! He was still asleep!
He didn't even wake up! I reached down into his playpen/crib as fast as I could and grabbed him up! I wrapped my arms around his stomach and gently allowed his weight to force the junk out, as I very gently "bounced" him.( This is the safest way that I have found to help a choking child.) I don't think that I slept at all that night.
The next morning I went to social services and "flipped my lid" because they refused to help us before when I knew the severity of the situation.
Now my son almost died because of it!!! I got help and into a motel that day!
But now my son and I have health problems like respiratory problems such as asthma and a lower resistance to colds.
Be very careful about molds. They are nothin' to "sneeze" at!
