A KIND WORD
(c) 1981 by mdsongwriter
The fragrance of a kind word lingers
Like a lovely scent.
Again, again, its beauty's heard.
The space for which it's meant
(Though tiny, just a moment) fills
The void from earth to sky
That lies, untouched, in someone's heart
By other passersby.
Like sweet perfume whose essence is
A substance in itself,
A kind word has a presence of its own.
And nothing else
Surpasses its enchantment,
This, a gift that, when it's gone,
So cherished by the senses is
Remembered, and gives on.
