| Independence Day, or Fireworks Day?

I had a thought to comment on what most of our patriotic dates have come to signify to most Americans. It seems that we now enjoy the time off from work, the comraderie of our friends, the BBQ, fireworks, and party time, but I wonder how many really stop to think just what that day, Independence Day, really means?
Many gave their lives and all their property for the right to make free choices for their freedom from tyranny, unjust rule, and unfair taxation by the King of England. They fought, died, were wounded, lost all that they had for a dream. Many were hung or tortured unjustly. Seems to me that we have a new "King" now, and he is doing the same thing to us, as well as other countries, but no one wants to stand up for the rights that are eroding day by day to this new tyranny.
