The pain is stronger
when the sun sinks low
flashing colors
and you are alone
no one to share it with
no one to hold
you sit there in silence
watching the light go
knowing when it is dark
the loneliness comes in
with twining fingers
to surround you with
no warm goodnight
no breath on your skin
with the fading light
the oneness sets in
it takes you over
and breaks your heart
to know that one
is not by your side
and in the morning
new rays come in
and you realize
you have survived again
you did not fade
with the setting sun
and tomorrow brings
new breath and light
so face this day
with your head held high
never alone
with you by your side
