| First Pittsburgh Meet Up Review

DH is a nice way to connect with others on line but after browsing the Pennsylvania and Event threads I noticed several members were trying to organize an event in the Pittsburgh area and since I love planning events, I offered to help in any way needed.
So, we set out to create our first event, a way for folks to meet in person in an easy-going group setting.
Funny thing is, initially, only four women showed up. But we had a blast anyway.
We enjoyed some food and drinks at Buckhead Saloon. If you've never been to Buckhead, they have great deals on Friday Fundraiser Happy Hours, Thursday Ladies Night and Saturday Night - bands and $2.00 U-Call-Its!
Afterwards we ventured on to Margarita Mamas only to discover that we were the only ones there. Actually, the door was still locked. Margarita Mamas has a great patio bar area - for those balmy summer nights and top 40 music. The crowd tends to be younger but fun none the less!
So, off to Saddle Ridge we went. We enjoyed drinks, the mechanical bull, chatting, flirting with cowboys and wannabe cowboys =) and great conversation with other DH members. After a bit, we were joined by Mike from Cleveland who happened to be in the Pittsburgh area for a gig. It was great hanging out with him. Saddle Ridge has dance lessons beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday nights. They also offer a $2 U-Call-It special!
Eventually we moved on to Matrix to meet up with another group. Matrix has great drink specials early in the night ($1 Well Drinks from 10:00 to 11:30) but the place is so large we quickly became separated. All in all I think the evening was fun and interesting. In the future, I wouldn't end at Matrix but Station Square is a great venue for groups. Plus I can get us in free to most places.
We are now looking for locations for our April get-together. We thought Pittsburgh was a great central location but we are happy to try another location, as well!
