Thoughts

I was thinking last night about my profile and it came to me that it doesn’t quite give the whole picture.

I know I know... it's long enough already, and nobody's profile will have *everything*.

It was more the tone that got me thinking. Not so much cold, but in a sense maybe logical to a fault?

There are certain things out there that defy the life views I put forth. This is a good thing, because often the things that do are inexplicably the most important.

Sometimes, despite everything you have learned to the contrary, you may take a path that has no foundation in what you see as the reality of the world at all.

Why? It makes no sense!

That in it's own special way is the beauty of it.

Take faith in religion as an example. Out of the many billions of people in the world, most have faith in some sort of mystical higher power. In a sense this is their "Truth". The explanation, validation, and point of their entire reality. I personally don't ascribe to any traditional religious belief, but there are many many who's faith in their religion is unwavering.

The analytical side of them can see no proof, no ironclad justification for this unshakable pillar at the core of their lives. What they *do* see is their emotions speaking to them in a clear, vivid, and stirring voice.

It's their feelings telling them "this is right" in a way that brings absolute certainty to them.

They have, in it's most pure form, faith.

While this may not make sense to some people, and may even appear weak minded, silly, uneducated, (I've heard all of these), it doesn't to me.

Why? For somebody who professes to base his direction in life so solidly in the basis of what his intellect is telling him, how could I possibly understand that which has no tangible support?

Because I've experienced it, and most likely so have you.

Faith is another form of something we all know, and by the virtue of being on this website are all yearning for.

Love.

Love defies logic, defies the explainable, it just *is*. Why do you love anyone? Why is it that there are people we can love without question when by doing so it offers no support for the ideals you hold dear? Or even worse may be contrary to them?

Because your feelings tell you it's right.

Very often our strongest desires and motivations have no basis in our perceived reality. But somehow we just know it's what we need.

Might this not be a beautiful reality unto itself?
