| WONDERFUL WEEKEND

I have had wonderful weekends before but,this was the best that I've had in a long,long time.On Friday,I was in my office and just decided to get out of town for the weekend.I got up,packed up the car,picked up the kids from school thirty minutes before school got out,took them to Red Lobster for late lunch early dinner,all four(4)of them trying to find out what's going on.Tipical me,never answered the question just smiled at all four of them. My eleven year old stepson just got up came all the way around the table and gave me the biggest hug,I think that he was the only one that read the memo,that I had just put out for them.The other kids still never got it.I told him now he was my co-pilot for the trip.After the check was paid we were getting ready to leave and all of a sudden another one of the kids got the memo and start screaming,"yes,yes,yes".Two more to go.My seventeen and twelve year old was still in the fog.She had no clue until we got to the Grapevine.When we finally got into Glendale about 9pm the only ones that was awake was my co-pilot.We talked about what he wanted to say to his dad,I must say,this kid has the best positive spirit that I have ever seen in my fifteen years of working with kids.His only concern was to let his father know that he loves him, and that he forgive him for lying to him and his sister.When we got to the nursing home,my ex was sitting in the lounge watching tv with a couple of the other guys.I walked over to him,gently touched on his shoulder and he just about jumped out his skin.We talked for a while,before going to our home.To my surprised he was getting ready to be released on Sat.so,I went to get him and bring him home.We had a ball the whole weekend.For the first time in six months we were a family,laughing,talking,playing games.Everything was perfect,the whole weekend was picture perfect for all of us.We all agreed that we should do these spontaneous trip more often..
