| Wow, what a dating scene!

Its funny, we go through life and in one way or another we are always searching for that someone. Along the way it never seems to get easier just clearer. As we mature we figure out all that we do not want making it easier to narrow down what we do wish to have in our lives. Still its like finding a needle in a hay stack!
While I'll never claim to have completely figured out women or profess to enirely understand them I have figured out me and I think the journey that most men struggle through. I've come to believe that men take one of two routes in life, they either grow up and get it or they don't. Those that don't eventually end up as that 80 year old guy retired in Sun City chasing 20 year old girls with a Pez dispenser full of Viagra in thier hand. I don't ever want to become that and have come to a very distinct point in my life that I'm able to detail what I want and refuse to settle for anything less.
That being said, why is it so hard to find even that 1 percent. As I venture through the dating scene I still witness the same games and futillity that I gave up in grade school. When did this whole search become about what you have and what you can do for the other person instead of who you are and what you can become together?
Are we so scared as a society to sacrifice and put ourselves out there that we have become these detached, cold, heartless beings with no hope of unity? I hope not and have not given up hope.
