Limbo......
by seashellll at 5/8/2008 5:57:59 AM

Not the fun kind of limbo where some island music is playing and you are trying to get your body under a bamboo pole, only to find yourself in traction for a few days, but the limbo of waiting....not knowing....wondering. That kind of limbo sucks sand big time! I am referring to the waiting about my son's surgery. He is supposed to have one more MRI before surgery is scheduled, but for some reason those notes are not in his chart. I was told by the nurse that he doesn't have to have another MRI for one year. ummmmm......what?!?! Nooooo, that is NOT what was discussed between Dr. C and myself. The nurse was trying to convince me that I was wrong. Nope, I remember the conversation between myself and the doctor verbatim. I was told there was nothing in the chart about said conversation. *sigh* Nurse said she would email Doctor with what I said....that was two days ago. I would prefer he not have to have surgery, but I don't want him to suffer either. I know how much the surgery helped him the last time.

Limbo. not. fun. at. all.

UPDATE:

Nurse called me 10 minutes and told me Doctor said MRI in one year. Now this doctor is only in the office once a week (on Tuesdays) so Doctor is obviously NOT looking at my son's file/chart. After AGAIN telling Nurse the conversation I had with Doctor verbatim, she tells me that she will talk to Doctor on Tuesday. *sigh* I told her that I will GLADLY drive the 37 miles to come and see the doctor in person, but Nurse said that there is no reason for me to make that drive over and that she would talk to the doctor in person. *double sigh* Something just isn't right. I was told five months ago after his last MRI that he isn't getting "flow" (flow of cerebral spinal fluid) and that she was going to have to do surgery again and replace the dural patch. It could wait until he is out of school for the Summer. I said will he need another MRI prior and the doctor said, "yes, we'll do another MRI in six months (six months is in June) and then schedule the surgery." Ok, so now how in the Hell does that translate into he only needs an MRI once a year?!?!? Seriously! Did the doctor make a mistake in reading the MRI? Did the doctor forget to write in his file/chart this conversation? Is the Nurse overlooking something in the file/chart? I just want to make sure my child receives the medical care and attention he is suppose to receive. If he doesn't need surgery..FANTASTIC!!! I would hate to see him go through this again, BUT if this is something that is needed and will help take care of his headaches and the pressure building, then YES, let's get this going.

Now I am in limbo until Tuesday.

UPDATE #2

Nurse called again. She said it would be best for me to come in in person because Doctor is still saying one year for MRI. Hopefully this will all be resolved on Tuesday.

Someone may need to throw a party to raise money for bail. Seriously.
