So you've been searching around and have found some people you would like to
talk to. Great. Now comes the catch. Like we were saying earlier, almost every
dating site out there will let you join and post a profile for free. "How do
these people make any money?" you may have been asking. Well the answer is
they'll ask you to pay as soon as you actually want to contact someone.
Ingenious strategy to be sure. Perhaps a bit annoying, but hey, running a
personals site costs a lot of money. They can't just give it away. There are
completely free sites out there, some are good, some aren't. The same goes with
pay sites. Just because it is a pay site don't conclude that it must be a good
site.
A lot of the companies that run dating sites are just out to make a quick
buck in a hot industry. Don't fork over your cash unless you have a good
feeling about a site. First of all there should be few to no advertisements on
the site, and absolutely no pop up ads. Second make sure there are some people
you want to contact. Third make sure the site you are on is secure. When you
are on the page that asks for your credit card information, make sure you see
'https' in the address bar (the address bar should be at the top of the screen
somewhere). For example, https://www.examplesite.com. If it just says
http://www.examplesite.com you do not want to enter your credit card
information in because the site is not secure. Remember this only applies to
the actual page that has you put in your card info, not the other pages. All
the other pages will be just http, that is normal.
