At 17, I was an eager, serious Loyola freshman. Made the dean's list the first semester, but after that I never let my studies interfere with my education... and my grades tapered off to the bare minimum. I didn't study but I paid very close attention and managed to pass with a very good education, in the subjects I cared about. I got a taste for history that now serves me well in my historical tours.
On my French Quarter History Tour, here's where I tell my guests about Napoleon and the Louisiana purchase, and Andrew Jackson and the Battle of New Orleans. My tour is animated, fun, and unforgetable. I'll ask you to join me in 15-act play, as audience and actors, directors, with the charming historic Vieux Carré as our stage. My goal is to give you a chance to fall in love with our city and its people. Me included!I've played this chromed banjo uke for over 50 years. I sing baritone, mostly the folk songs popular in my college days. I was always skinny, but in this photo I was recovering from a ruptured appendix. I loved the farm and all the animals.

I'm thinner now, and clean up good, but don't wear a necktie very often in this tropical setting.
After my performance as W.C.C.Claiborne, I posed with his great great grand neice, who helped me prepare. Retired from politics and a post as an ambassador, she is the unofficial godmother of New Orleans, beloved by everyone here. She still lives in the quarter, sharp as ever at age 92.Me and Sam. He's got me trained to give him some serious skritching. I don't keep dogs, but there are at least three who live nearby and are great friends.
