I was reading the News paper today and it said a 10 month old girl Died from a 7 year old girl picking her up and throwing her a couple times at a Daycare Center, The teachers walked away for a min and that happened...

One They should;ve never had their eyes off of the kids
two the 7 yr old girl should be punished in some way


whats wrong with People today ? It makes me so mad that this crap happens from a lack of supervision of what your suppose to be doing

How do you punish a seven year old girl for this? If any punishment is to be had, it should befall on the parents.

 very sad...unfortunately to say this without knowing the details one would think a 7 year old knew better, however each case has its own set of rules and maturity level...Very sad story but, one question sticks in my head...If a child was throwing a baby one would think that there would be crying and noise...Why was the teacher or daycare provider gone and how long were these childern left unattended for? In the state where I live in Daycare providers have to meet a law requirement of staffing per the number of children...Neglect on the behalf of the lady in charge... I think that the 7 year old should be sought out for medical attention and evalutaion...I couldnt see taking a 7 year old and punishing them beyond normality such as community service...This is a very touchy subject...I feel for both of the families

Im not sure if you can punish a 7 yr old girl. Alotta times its all in fun and they dont really know better. I think the punishment needs to fall on the daycare center. You shouldnt be leaving a 10 month old baby alone anyways. The 7 year olds punishment will be living with it for the rest of her life.

Well, to be honest, it is completely the childcare Teacher's fault. I am a preschool teacher, I teach 3 year olds at La Petite Academy. The THREE year olds know not to pick their friends up or hit them and so on, but they always try to do things to eachother when my back is turned. I will never turn my back for longer than 30 seconds, and that is only turn my back. I will never leave the room unless I ask another teacher to watch over my room for me for a quick minute while I go to grab snack or something. If I am going to use the restroom I call my boss to sit in for me. Leaving children unattended is illegal in a childcare center. In all reality, the center can be closed because accredidation strongly enforces teacher to student ratio. The facility is definately at fault for permitting the teacher for leaving, and the teacher is at fault for actually leaving.

I agree i am a preschool teacher as well also the 7 yearold should not have been in the room with the babies

This is such a sad story. How does a 7 year old know the consequences and the meaning of life and death. I think the center should be closed and investugated for this.
