Thanks for the video, it was interesting. When I was a kid my sister and I played with mercury. My mother had a plastic bottle of it and we used to pour it out on the table and watch it "break" and then put it back together again. I still can remember the way it felt in my hand, cold, heavy. Anyway, years went by and I would take my mother to her Dr. appointments I had a conversation with her Dr. one time about mercury, and asked him why my sister and I were still alive if we had played with it as kids. He said he used to play with it also, and referred to it as "quick silver". His answer to my question was simply..."Because we didn't know it was deadly." There is no other explanation in my mind.
I also remember when working in the school the adults took turns giving out doses of flouride on Tues. mornings. Those kids whose parents gave permission would be given little plastic cups with a small amount in them and had to swish it in their mouth for 2 minutes and then spit it out into papertowel. One day I read the side of the bottle of flouride and what we were to do if a child swallows it, and asked that I not be one to give it to them anymore, as I didn't feel good about it. Now we have it in our drinking water!
