| Just got one today as a matter of fact.....different strokes for different folks I guess.......for some reason it doesn't feel like a welcomed approach to me.
How many times in real life do you make a friend without atleast saying "Hello" first.....why is it so different online?

| I used to be real strict about my definition of
who would be on my friends list. But after a couple
of miscalculations, I have just decided that I will
loosen up a little. Even sometimes when you think
someone is a good friend, it turns out to not be so.
But I do need some communication before we go there.
Hey, it's all in fun anyway. Right?

| Don't know. It is a bit strange. For me, it is like with real life. It takes a while to consider someone a friend so I don't do that unless we have conversed at least a few times.

| Some think it's some kind of image to have more friends then another..or just likes to collect...I like it so all I have to do is go to friends list and click on instead of going searching...I have made some awesome friends and would want them close....( wink ) Sea

| Especially if they are shadows
I get shadow winks and requests all the time
The people that have pix on their profile that want to add another person to their friend's list see the number of friends as some kind of popularity thing or something. JMO

| I don't know why others send friend requests, but sometimes I send them when I've had conversations with certain people and I want an "easy" way to find them..There are those whose posts in the forums interest me and I place them on my Friends List so that I can easily find them. I usually send a message along to alert them.
I have received "friend requests" and, if I don't recognize the name,I click on their profile to find out who they are. If I don't recognize them from the forums, I send them a polite message, asking them what prompted them to click me...suggesting, "Was it something I said in a thread?" "Which thread caught your eye." I usually get a prompt reply.
I recall one friend request that arrived and when I checked his profile I found well over 100 friends....ALL FEMALE. Not wanting to be in that kind of "friendship", I removed myself, and sent him a polite note, explaining why!
As I posted earlier, I have no great problem with shadows...to be a friend, it matters not what they look like, it matters VERY MUCH what they SAY & how they say it. I have, lately, come across a few who have made it clear ...publicly AND privately, that they are DEFINITELY NOT people I would choose to be "friends" with!
To me, online friends are not exactly like the friends I make in person, but, surely, there is no reason why some of them will not be. I have only met 1 or 2 online who are on my "friends List"...it's not that way in real life, is it?
Maybe this will assist you in learning what some of us consider when we click "friend."
Sincerely,
Knittin Kitten

| It certainely doesn't mean that they ARE a friend. Therefore, it might be because they want the conquest and the show off part of it.
Translation:
"I don't care to know you, or even attempt to talk to you...(because more than likely you would never even accept to talk to me)...However, I want to show off your profile in my friend's list, so I look like I am such a big hunk."
OR,
"I don't know any better."
