I am agnostic because I am honest enough to admit 'I don't know'. However, is it any wonder that the wars are started and fought by christians going after christians? Except for the native peoples they decimate.

| Unfortunately, that's true with any religion, it's unfortunate human nature and why there are soooooo many little variation within every religion. AND, why most wars are started and faught. Think of where we would be today if we could just get it into our heads that there isn't a god out there. I doubt that there would have been a 9/11 for starters.

| well if there were no wars and never were war then most of the populas would die of starvation and sicknees due to over population. war has its place and its uses. i may not agree with the cause but i do know that more and more natural habbitats are being cleared for human use each day. there are way to many of our kind on this planet.

Queen, you still seem to put christians on some pedestal, like we are not human or something. The only difference between a christian and a non-believer as that a christian is born-again into the family of God. We don't get "perfect" but we have salvation, and, the Holy Spirit living in us to guide us into all righteousness. It is a journey though and no christian ever reaches perfection on this Earth. A christian has to submit daily to the voice of God. If we don't, we fall into the "worldly" ways again, fighting, with whoevers handy, and sinning like the rest of the world. A person with the Holy Spirit in them though, CANNOT sin without being convicted of it by God through His Spirit. I know this is latin to you as you do not know the Father. It's always worth a try to tell someone though. God wants all to come to Him. I believe the best thing anyone can do is take care of their own "backyard" before we point fingers at others. Your track record online isn't that great either Queen.

| The tighter the group is, the worse such divisiveness can get. In many churches, this is what church life is like just ask the steady stream of once-active Christians who walk away in disgust. These people have been burned by the world, so they turn to the church as their healer, but instead of being healed they get torched with a flamethrower. It is obvious to me that the separation is the result of the MANY interpretations of the bible, and which edition of the bible is used. IMO it has been going on for years, and it will never stop. All Christians will NEVER be on the same page when it comes to their faith. I know Baptists who would never go to a Catholic church and visa versa.In all fairness Christians aren't the only ones that have conflictions.

I agree with you on the "interpretations" being a problem, more like an all out disaster. The Bible says this:
2Pe 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,[fn2]
2Pe 1:21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God[fn3] spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
The bible was never meant for man "alone" to figure out. The bible can only be fully understood through the Holy Spirit of God living in us. Too many think that they are to read the bible and figure it out. They read right through scriptures as above and don't get it because they are not born-again. The Holy Spirit inspired/directed those that wrote the bible. So it is only by His Spirit anyone can understand. It isn't up to any person "when" a persons eyes are opened, it is up to God. But a christians instructions are clear. Carry the message to the ends of the Earth. How it's received is not our business, the results of that are up to God.

you're not saying christians never attack christians are you? tell me then, what were the crusades and the inquisition all about if not christianity? how about the salem witch trials? many many wars have been started with christians as heads of state. c'mon, "prove" i don't know either.

 no one take offence to questions that I ask as it is the way that I learn.  That said, I am understanding after reading your post Denise, that only one who is "born again" and filled witht he Holy Spirit can understand the bible.  By saying that it was never meant for man alone to figrure out, then that means that they have to have the Holy Spirtit  in them to do so? Is this true? Once one is filled with this Holy Spirit, then everything contained in the bible, like Noah's arc, Jonah and the whale,...things that seem to defy science, all become literal, and make sense? Just wondering...anyone can answer....or not. |

Well put and I have to agree. After I got out of the Army, I attended 3 different Religious schools, got married to a fine Christian gal, and then got torched by the "Flamethrower". 13 years and 3 kids later,she walked out of our marriage. Years later, I was working out in San Fran for a "Christian Junior/Senior high school. That school board cleaned out the school of over $5 Million and WelsFargo finally forclosed on the organization. Very sad. I finally opened my eyes and realized that this is a bunch of hog wash. Ya know, believing in a god is much like believing in Santa Clause. Infact, it's ironic that the Christian faith has created this mithical character right at the time of what's considered the birth of Christ who has pretty much all the same characteristics of God. Time to wake up kids, and smell the coffee of reality.

Actually JR, if I might answer this one, I don't know about the crusades, but, the inquisition, Salem Withch trials "wars caused by christian heads of state??(not sure on this one either. But the other two. Those were not caused by "followers of Christ" Anyone can call themself a christian. There are according to the bible, people running about calling themselves christians(we have some here)and using His name but they do NOT know Jesus nor His Word. They are liars. No true follower of Christ would have been in on the inquisition or witch hunts. It is man's peception of christianity and the bible that screws this world up along with many other "types". You know Im sure I've told you this before. I guess there isn't much use telling people more than once "not all christians suck".
